Die Grenzgänger in Norwegen beim Festival der Europäischen Rundfunkanstalten! : Das Festivals 2003 fand vom 4.-6. Juli in Førde in Norwegen statt, und für Deutschland fuhren die GRENZGÄNGER aus Bremen mit ihrem Programm über Hoffmann von Fallersleben, den Verfasser der deutschen Nationalhymne, nach Norwegen. (Førde liegt ca. 150 km von Bergen)
Das Festival
Einmal im Jahr veranstaltet die European Broadcasting Union (EBU) ein Folkfestival in ihren Mitgliedsländern, quasi die Weltmusikvariante des Grand Prix Eurovision. Zur EBU gehören immerhin 52 Länder in Europa, Nord Afrika und dem Mittleren Osten sowie weitere 28 angeschlossene Länder. Jedes dieser Länder sendet eine Gruppe zum Festival, alle Konzerte werden aufgezeichnet und dann wiederum in den Mitgliedsländern ausgestrahlt.
Da das Konzert weltweit in etwa 70 Länder ausgestrahlt wurde, wurde zwischen den Liedern in englischer Sprache eine kurze Einleitung gegeben und einige Textzeilen übersetzt:
About 160 years ago the Country now known as Germany consisted of 37 independent countries, each one ruled by a selfish and tyrannical lord, earl or king. There was no freedom of speech or writing, no human rights as we know it, of course: no democracy. To fight for these rights meant to fight for a united Germany. Those were the days Hoffmann von Fallersleben wrote the song: „Deutschland, Deutschland über alles“: One hundred years later the nazis made it the national anthem of the „third reich“ and the symbol for their intention to rule the world! What the nazis didn’t tell the people is, that Hoffmann von Fallersleben never wanted his country to rule over other countries, and that he wrote a lot of very popular revolutionary songs. – Finally he lost his job because of his democratic activities and became a refugee in his own motherland. Even today no german schoolbook mentions this facts! We do! So let us go back now to the year 1837 when H.v.F. started to fight and – referring to a well-known german fairy tale – took the cudgel in his hand! Knüppel aus dem Sack!
